Tourists removed a beached pufferfish from a Thai island.

Two passing holidaymakers spotted the dead sea creature ashore on Ko Yao Noi, Phang Nga, on December 6.

Footage shows a man poking the animal with a stick. Upon realizing that it was no longer moving or breathing, he decided to dispose of it in a garbage bag to prevent others from touching it.

He carefully lifted the pufferfish's tail and placed it inside the plastic bag, which he then tied.

The filmer said: 'We can't just toss it back into the water because we fear that some people or animals might play with it and get hurt.'

Pufferfish are extremely poisonous and can be fatal to humans and dogs if ingested. Pufferfish contain a toxin called tetrodotoxin (TTX), which is found in their skin, muscles, liver, and ovaries. It is believed to be 1,000 times stronger than potassium cyanide.

When threatened, pufferfish inflate their bodies by swallowing water or air, causing them to bloat and become larger and spikier. This behavior is a defense mechanism, making the pufferfish more difficult for predators to swallow.
