This is the baffling moment a stunned family finds a kitten inside a box of furniture they bought and decides to keep it as a pet.

The mother filmed the moment they opened the package while a man and a young boy carefully removed the tape from the box delivered to their home in Yingtan, China, on December 7.

As they opened the package, they were startled by the sound of a faint meow coming from the parcel.

Upon further inspection, they found a kitten trapped inside the small cabinet in the box.

The boy then excitedly began jumping up and down at the sight of the seemingly unharmed and adorable feline that had wound up in their home by accident.

The woman said the seller was also unaware of how the tiny creature ended up in the package.

She has since decided to adopt the animal and care for it.
