This is the dramatic moment a buffalo cart racer crashed when the animals refused to stop running

Footage shows a farmer riding the chariot pulled by two bovines at a festival in Phetchaburi, Thailand, on May 26.

As the race progressed, he continued striking the pair with a stick to make them run faster. The sudden burst of speed caused him to lose his balance as the bulls charged ahead.

Moments later, the cart crashed into a row of hay bales and toppled over, with the farmer seen leaping from it, seemingly unharmed.

The incident occurred during the annual Ox Cart Racing Competition, a cultural event that celebrates traditional rural life and agricultural heritage in the region.

This year's festival also marked the 108th anniversary of Ban Lat District, adding extra significance to the celebrations.

In addition to the cart racing, the event featured a variety of competitions, including an ox cart parade, cow racing, wrestling cows to the ground bare-handed, pig catching, and a palm fruit cutting-and-eating challenge.

Booths throughout the venue showcased local culture, food, and products, while folk music and dance performances entertained crowds throughout the day.

Officials said the event aims to promote tourism and stimulate the local economy. Festivities are scheduled to continue until June 1.
