US: Burglary Suspect Fleeing on Bicycle Arrested After Dramatic Fall

Brentwood, United States - December 13, 2024 A burglary suspect’s attempt to flee on a bicycle ended in failure early Friday morning when he fell and was quickly apprehended by Brentwood Police officers. At approximately 6:00 AM, officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business on Empire Avenue. They found 31-year-old Daniel Whelan exiting the rear of the building. Upon spotting the officers, Whelan fled on a bicycle but was swiftly located nearby and arrested. During the investigation, officers recovered multiple burglary tools, including a pry bar, knife, gloves, and stolen property from the business. Whelan faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and related offenses. The quick response by Brentwood PD led to a safe and successful resolution of the case.
