On the evening of December 31, during New Year's Eve celebrations, an incident involving the sudden explosion of hydrogen balloons occurred at Wanda Plaza in the Yangshan New District of Xinyang City, Henan Province.

That evening, members of the public brought hydrogen balloons into the entrance of Gate 1 at Wanda Plaza. The hydrogen balloons unexpectedly exploded, causing panic among the crowd, who fled in fear. Some individuals sustained minor burns.

Fire rescue personnel and police officers on duty quickly responded, extinguishing the flames.

Currently, the specific cause of the incident is under further investigation.

Hydrogen is a highly flammable and explosive gas, and hydrogen balloons can easily ignite or explode when exposed to open flames or static electricity. The use and sale of hydrogen balloons in crowded areas pose significant risks.

Similar incidents involving hydrogen balloon explosions have occurred in other locations in the past, prompting bans on the release of hydrogen balloons in crowded settings, particularly during events like New Year's Eve.
