CCTV shows Corey Beavis, 28, in fatal motorcycle crash in Thailand
CCTV shows Corey Beavis, 28, in a fatal motorcycle crash in Phuket, Thailand, on Saturday January 4.
The British tourist, from Barry, South Wales, was riding without a helmet when his vehicle hit a barrier and he plunged down a grassy bank on the holiday island. His skull was split open.
Fellow Brit Regan Kelly, also 28, died in a similar accident on the same day on the same island. The pair did not know each other but had a striking resemblance - down the same beard, hairstyle, facial features and build.
Corey's family is now hoping to raise some 35,000 GBP to repatriate his body back to the UK. The expense is covered in some travel insurance policies but can be invalidated if the person is riding without a helmet.
Corey's family said: 'On Saturday morning 04/01/25, we received the devastating news that our beautiful boy lost his life following a motorcycle accident.
'Corey lit up any room he walked into, with his larger than life character and his infectious laugh.
'He had so much left to give this world, but also lived a life 10x beyond his wildest imagination. He was a real genuine person with nothing but love for the people around him.
'As a family we've suffered immeasurable loss, and now have to face the realities of repatriation and laying our beautiful boy to rest - having not had travel and life insurance policies in place, the significant costs surrounding this are unimaginable.'
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand.
