India: Vigilant cop rescues passenger who fell while boarding moving train
Nagpur, India - February 05, 2025 The Railway Protection Force swiftly intervened under 'Operation Jeevan Raksha' to save the life of a male passenger who slipped from the train step and was dragged along the platform, narrowly avoiding being caught in the gap between the train and the platform. The incident took place at Dongargarh railway station, South East Central Railway zone, Nagpur district, Maharashtra, western India, on February 5. Visuals show a man hanging onto the train's door and being dragged on the platform. One of the Railway officials runs to his rescue and pulls him to safety, while another official arrives at the scene upon witnessing the incident. Speaking to Newslions, Railway Protection Force officer Prashant Dalai explained that the incident occurred at Dongargarh railway station. At 11:36 AM, train number 12843 (Puri-Ahmedabad Express) arrived at platform number 1 and was scheduled to depart at 11:40 AM. As the train was departing, a male passenger, approximately 52 years old, who had seated his family in the forward coach, attempted to board the moving train. During this attempt, the passenger's foot slipped from the step, and he was dragged along the platform. He was about to fall into the gap between the train and the platform and could have been caught under the moving train, leading to a tragic accident. However, thanks to the quick thinking and promptness of Head Constable Prashant Dalai, who was on platform duty at the RPF Dongargarh post, he immediately ran to the rescue. He managed to grab the passenger and pull him safely from the gap, ultimately saving his life. This action by the concerned RPF member is highly commendable. The entire incident is recorded on CCTV.
