A heroic guard saved a passenger when she slipped while trying to board a moving train.

The officer was walking along the platform when a youngster hopped and clung to the door of a locomotive but her legs slipped through the gap in Assam, India.

CCTV footage shows the railway station guard sprinting to pull the traveller to safety on October 27.

He dragged her away from the train, and both of them fell on their backs before onlookers rushed to check on them. Both the guard and the passenger were unhurt.

Most train accidents in India happen due to overcrowded platforms and passengers attempting to board or disembark from moving trains.

The lack of safety barriers, poor maintenance, and limited enforcement of railway rules further increase the risk of such incidents.

Despite government efforts to upgrade infrastructure and promote safer practices, accidents remain common across the country's vast rail network.
