One worker was injured when a fire broke out at a recycling centre in Singapore this morning.

The employee suffered burns and smoke inhalation when flames erupted at the plant on February 19 at 10:30am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) dispatched six water trucks and an unmanned firefighting machine were deployed to combat the blaze.

When they arrived, the fire was already burning intensely due to fuel from waste materials.

One victim was reportedly transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

During the incident, mobile users received text alerts advising them to avoid the area.

Officials also reported increasing traffic congestion as firefighting efforts continued and urged commuters to avoid the nearby area.

The fire is the third ince 2018 to have occurred at the location, run by waste management company Wah & Hua., s.

In March 2024, a fire engulfed a 400-square-metre processing area, leading to the evacuation of 25 victims.
