This is the moment bungling backpackers crashed a rented motorcycle into a shop on a Thai island.

The two girls were riding the scooter attached with two extra wheels when they lost control on the pavement in Surat Thani, Thailand on February 6.

CCTV footage shows the scared girls screaming while rolling along the vehicle.

They crashed on parked cars, peeling off a white sedan's front fender before slamming onto boxes and bags outside a shop.

The girls clipped another motorbike before they slid on their sides and the two-wheeler halted on the road.

Resident Jeab Pilin said: 'I don't know who they were but I heard they were from Israel. They hit cars and a motorcycle.'

The girls had minor scratches on their legs and arms but they were not seriously hurt.

They also paid for the damages to the locals' vehicles.

Jeab added: 'The car was new but they paid to have it fixed. There has been a lot of problems with these modified motorcycles recently, because tourists hire them without having any experience.'
