This is the heartwarming moment a Good Samaritan saved a stray dog that was drowning in a pond in Thailand.

Chaiwat Sukhadecha, 44, plunged into the water to rescue the struggling pooch at the Phimai Wittaya School in Nakhon Ratchasima province, on February 24.

Footage shows him donning a life vest before paddling across the 10ft-deep pool to reach the struggling canine. He then gave it a life vest to help it float before pushing it back toward the pond steps.

The exhausted pooch was seen limping onto the streets before running away.

Chaiwat said a security guard had called him that there was a dog drowning in the middle of the pond.

He said: 'The dog is safe now, and I think it will survive. If I hadn't helped, it might have drowned because it looked so exhausted. It must have run out of energy from paddling so long.'
