Two wild monitor lizards scurried through a home while a boy was praying on the living room floor.

CCTV footage shows the youngster Gus, 11, pausing the activity and standing up to probe around when he heard strange noises in their house in Samut Prakan province, Thailand.

But Gus, who was still wearing his school uniform, was terrified when he realised that not only one but two reptiles had entered their property.

He then fled to the bedroom with his siblings while the 3ft long lizards chased each other around the room until they eventually left on their own.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
