A hero lifeguard gave first aid to a collapsed tourist and saved him on the roadside.

Leonides Sollegue Jr, a Philippine Red Cross volunteer, saw a foreigner pass out on the sidewalk and rushed to help on the destination island of Bohol on March 7.

Footage shows the Good Samaritan checking on the tourist who fell face-first on the pavement.

He asked everyone to give them space, called for a motorcycle rider to assist him and turned the man over.

The first aider called for others to assist as the foreigner was heavy.

He said: 'Please help me support his head.'

Leonides then talked to the foreigner to see if he is conscious.

He said: 'Sir, are you okay? Talk to me if you can.'

The first aider lifted his leg and told him to just breathe before checking his pulse.

He said: 'Feeling better now? Follow my breathing okay? Slowly okay? In, blow. Just breathe for me. Just breathe for me okay? Good, that's it. Don't worry about your eyes. It's okay.'

When the foreigner's breathing appeared to stabilise, he talked to him and gave him instructions.

He said: 'I'm a trained first aider. Just follow what I say okay?

'I'm gonna put down your legs. And I will try to lift you up and just lean on my legs. So the blood will not go to your head.'

The foreigner's forehead was bleeding from hitting the concrete pavement.'

He nodded and followed Leonides' instructions, telling him his name was Michael.

Leonides then asked Michael to grip his hand and then tighten it until he could move on his own.

The foreigner was taken to a hospital and survived what could have been fatal with the help of the first aider.
