A brave hotel porter went beyond the call of duty - walking across a glass roof to retrieve a guest's iPhone that fell from their window.

Tanawat Chantaruek, 20, was told about the handset so wore a safety vest strapped across his chest with a rope.

Colleagues on the third-floor balcony then held onto the climbing equipment for the daring phone rescue mission in Phuket, Thailand, on November 16.

Footage shows the diligent staff member treading lightly on the transparent panels as he tries to reach for the fallen device.

He walked with legs wide apart and stepped only on the frames to avoid shattering the glass and plunging below - to certain serious injury - until he successfully saved the iPhone.

Tanawat said: 'The phone fell from the ninth floor, and the tourists asked us for help. I volunteered to retrieve the phone for them. I felt like it was just part of my job. Hopefully, they give me a good review on Google.'

The hotel worker's safety rope was being held by his colleagues from the balcony. He then walked back the same way and returned the phone to its relived owners.
