Locals rescued a cat stuck at the top of a tree in northern Thailand.

Kwak Ngern, the white feline, went missing in Nong Bua Lam Phu on November 22.

This prompted its worried owner to look for him after hours of not returning home.

The keeper recalled that she began searching for her cat and heard a meow from above. She then shone a flashlight up and saw the furry creature perched high in the tree.

She tried calling it down, but the frightened animal refused to move. Moments later, a kind passerby helped them retrieve Kwak Ngern.

Footage shows the rescuer clambering up the tree and carefully grabbing the cat, who then tightly clung onto him, visibly shaken from the heights.

After successfully descending, he handed it to the woman.

The pet owner said: 'I think another cat might have chased Kwak Ngern up the tree. That was why it was left stranded. I am glad that my cat didn't get any wounds.'
