This is the heartwarming moment a firefighter rescues a tabby cat from a tree, which digs its claws into its saviour after being stuck for several days.

The incident occurred in a residential area of Astana, Kazakhstan, on September 21.

Footage shows a firefighter in the tree grabbing the feline before climbing back down.

The pet's worried owner was waiting below with a cat carrier to retrieve her beloved pet. However, when the rescuer came down with the animal on his shoulder, it was reluctant to part with its saviour, clinging to his uniform with its claws.

The woman can be seen trying to pry her pet away from the fireman, saying the feline likes its rescuer.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan said: 'The Emergencies Ministry brought the cat down to earth.

'A woman in the capital (Astana) asked the Emergencies Ministry for help.

'Her cat climbed a tree and could not get down for several days.

'The department's specialists brought the fluffy cat down and eventually handed it over to its worried owner.'
