This is the moment poorly secured boxes flew off the back of a pickup truck and rolled into oncoming cars.

Footage shows the white containers tied with a thin string on the vehicle's cargo bed when they were blown away by the wind in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

The boxes tumbled onto the busy road, bouncing and rolling straight into the path of drivers behind.

Motorists slowed to avoid the objects so no one was hit on March 21.

Driver Khunnakron, who was behind the truck, said: 'The boxes were light and not tied tightly. The wind was also strong.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
