A police motorbike rider knocked over a suspect to stop him during a high-speed chase.

CCTV footage shows the highway patrol officer racing along a road in 100mph speed after the alleged traffic offender dangerously overtook several vehicles in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The officer activated his siren but the motorcyclist refused to pull over on August 15.

The cop then closed in before clipping the suspect's bike, sending him tumbling onto the roadside.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs said: ‘The pursuit lasted for several kilometres along Primorskoye Highway until the officer forced the crash near house number 391.'

The 49-year-old rider was unhurt and detained for questioning.

Officials said administrative protocols were filed against him for illegal overtaking and using improper registration plates.

Authorities added that dozens of motorcyclists have died in speeding-related accidents in the region in recent months, including three earlier this month.
