Kilauea volcano oozes lava in latest eruption in Hawaii
This was the spectacular moment when the Kilauea volcano erupted, oozing lava during its latest eruption in Hawaii.
The blast resumed midday on Tuesday, March 25, when molten rock began pouring out of a vent at Kilauea's summit, as confirmed by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
Authorities said that the liquid magma was contained within the caldera inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and was not affecting any residential areas.
This eruption, which began on December 23 of the previous year, follows a pattern of brief, explosive episodes—each lasting around 13 hours, separated by pauses ranging from one day to nearly two weeks.
Kilauea is the world's most active volcanic mass and is the central feature of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Its caldera is nearly three miles long and two miles wide, with an area of more than four square miles.
