Wildlife rescuers use stretcher to haul giant monitor lizard out of house
Wildlife rescuers used a makeshift stretcher to haul a massive monitor lizard out of a resident's home in Thailand.
The officers were called to the residence in Phetchabun after a terrified local spotted the Godzilla-like creature hiding under boxes in the storage area of her house on Thursday.
Footage shows the team using a snare poles to drag the hulking 10ft beast out of its hiding spot.
They managed to pull it out into the open but had to use bamboo poles as a makeshift stretcher to carry the 135lb animal onto a truck.
The monitor lizard was later released into the wild.
Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
