STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - APRIL 12, 2025: Hundreds of people gathered in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, on Saturday, April 12, to protest against Israel’s ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in the deaths of mostly women and children. Protesters gathered in Stockholm's Odenplan district in response to the call of various NGOs, demanding an immediate halt to Israel's war crimes against women, the elderly, and children in Gaza. Participants carried a large banner reading “End the Genocide Now” alongside signs with messages such as “Free Palestine, Free Gaza” and “Boycott Israel.” The protestors reiterated their calls for an end to Israeli violence and urged greater international accountability. The protesters marched to the Swedish Parliament, chanting slogans such as "Children are killed in Gaza" and "Free Palestine." As part of the protest, a theatrical performance was staged depicting powerful scenes: an injured doctor performing cardiac massage on a baby, soldiers abusing the doctor and obstructing journalists, and a portrayal of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wearing a devil mask. Protesters also condemned the United States for its support of Israel, accusing the U.S. government of complicity in the attacks. Oruba Abu Hammam, President of Stockholm Academics for Palestine, told Anadolu that she joined the demonstration to demand an end to Israel’s genocide in Palestine. She called for an arms embargo and sanctions against Israel, stating that, “The only way to stop all of Israel’s barbaric attacks in Palestine is through an arms embargo.”
