A dog that had fallen into a muddy well was rescued by kind-hearted locals.

The pooch struggled to climb up the slippery hole in the ground before being spotted by passing residents in Calabarzon, the Philippines.

Footage shows the canine being gently pulled to safety with the help of a stick threaded through its collar by a Good Samaritan.

One of the rescuers said: 'Where is it? Oh yes, there is a dog. Oh no. Whose dog is it?'

The rescuer who extracted the Aspin said: 'I feel sorry for this dog. The well is too deep.'

Ang Ge, who was among those who helped save the animal, added: 'We rescued the dog from the mud. It is doing fine now.'

The group took the mutt back to the village while waiting for its owner to claim it on April 21.
