Hamas hostage welcomed home by football fans in London
A former Hamas hostage was welcomed home by football fans in London.
Emily Damari, a British-Israeli citizen, was released earlier this year after spending 471 days in Hamas captivity.
An avid Spurs supporter, Emily received a hero's welcome from football fans outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, May 11.
Footage captured Emily during her first visit to the UK since her release from Gaza in January.
She said: 'I am very happy to be here. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me, who shouted my name without knowing me.'
Reports noted that her appearance at the stadium served not only as a celebration of her return but also as a platform to call for the release of the remaining 59 hostages still held in Gaza.
Israel has blitzed the Gaza Strip in retaliation for a terror attack by the governing party Hamas on a Jewish music festival on October 7, 2023.
However, the situation - which Israel claims is self-defence - has attracted criticism from around the world.
