Hapless tourist clipped by train while taking selfie at railway market
A hapless tourist was clipped by a train while taking a selfie at a railway market in Thailand.
Footage shows a group of holidaymakers standing and recording video as a train departs from the Maeklong Railway Market in Samut Songkhram.
While most stepped aside, one reckless sightseer moved dangerously close to the tracks, leaning towards the coach.
The local filming the scene shouted a warning, urging him to watch his head. However, the visitor appeared unresponsive, possibly due to a language barrier, as the warning was in Thai.
Moments later, the locomotive struck the traveller on the head and shoulder with a loud thud, causing him to stumble backwards.
He then picked up his phone and resumed filming, seemingly unfazed. It is believed that he was not seriously injured on April 28.
The Maeklong Railway Market in Thailand is famous for having a train pass through it several times a day. When the train approaches, vendors quickly move their goods and awnings away from the tracks. Once the train passes, they resume their usual market activities on the railway.
