Chaos at Shanghai Disneyland as couple brawls with family of three after accidental photobomb
On May 31, a physical altercation broke out at the Zootopia section of Shanghai Disneyland involving a young couple and a family of three, reportedly over a photo-taking dispute.
According to a police report, the incident occurred at a public photo spot where guests are free to take pictures. A 22-year-old man, Yan, and his girlfriend were taking photos when the daughter of 36-year-old tourist Liu and his wife accidentally stepped into their shot. The couple believed the child had disrupted their photo, and an attempt to resolve the issue escalated from a verbal argument to physical confrontation.
Eyewitnesses stated that the female member of the couple intensified the conflict by shouting insults, saying, “Is it illegal if I call you an idiot?” The girl's parents argued that it was a public area and there was no need to avoid the shot. The altercation reportedly escalated when the father, Liu, was the first to shove the couple.
During the scuffle, Yan and Liu exchanged blows, both sustaining minor injuries. The woman in the couple, while shoving, made contact with both the mother and the child’s head, though no substantial injuries were caused. The mother broke down in tears and crouched on the ground, while several tourists stepped in to mediate. However, witnesses noted a lack of timely intervention by park staff.
Police have stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the specific responsibilities of those involved.
