SeaWorld San Diego Welcomes Two Bottlenose Dolphin Calves in 2025
SAN DIEGO – SeaWorld San Diego is celebrating the birth of two healthy male bottlenose dolphin calves, Jupiter and Phin, marking a significant milestone in the park’s multigenerational marine mammal care program.
Jupiter and Phin were born in late 2024 and early 2025, respectively, and are thriving under the care of first-time mothers Corona and Coco. The dolphin calves are currently nursing, growing steadily, and beginning to exhibit natural social behaviors.
“These births are a testament to the strong maternal instincts of their moms and the dedication of our animal care team,” said Wendy Ramirez, curator of zoological operations at SeaWorld San Diego.
Visitors can view the young dolphins at SeaWorld’s Nature Exploration Station, where the park also houses Chance and Cardiff—two common dolphins rescued and rehabilitated in 2024. Cardiff was found with a fractured jaw, and Chance was rescued in critical condition. Both have since recovered and were deemed non-releasable by NOAA.
The park’s dolphin habitat emphasizes observational learning and social play among its marine residents. As of this year, SeaWorld San Diego continues to support dolphin well-being through hands-on care and public education.
