Utah wildfire turns to fire vortex in terrifying footage
A dramatic fire vortex tore through the Deer Creek Fire on July 12, hurling flames into the sky and causing new damage to nearby structures.
Officials reported no injuries during the rare and intense event.
A Bureau of Land Management fire engine was hit by the vortex and taken out of service for repairs.
By July 13, weather conditions had returned to normal, allowing fire crews to make progress.
Authorities stressed that the safety of both the public and firefighters remains the top priority.
