A kind resident laid a pole between the roofs of two houses to create a makeshift bridge and save a stranded kitten.

Nur Tanjung went to the top of their home to check why the dog had been barking and spotted the tabby named Bocil struggling to climb down in West Java, Indonesia.

Footage shows Nur laying the 8ft (2m) pole to the other property and waiting for the moggy to cross.

The grandfather smiled at the feline while trying to calm it down to walk towards them until it did.

Nur said: ‘I do not know how Bocil got up there, but we heard the dog barking and the cat crying, so we climbed up. Bocil was scared, and we helped it to safely come to us.'

The elderly resident carried Bocil while laughing and rubbing its fur before he took it with them downstairs.
