Heavy monsoon rains have claimed at least 54 lives in just 24 hours in Pakistan's Punjab province, officials confirmed on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The death toll from rain-related incidents across the country has now reached 178 since June 26, affecting Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan.

Punjab has witnessed the most severe impact, with 124% more rainfall recorded between July 1 and July 15 compared to the same period last year. Streets in major cities like Rawalpindi and Lahore are inundated, and a cloudburst in Jhelum district triggered flash floods, forcing emergency evacuations by boat.
