Massive Boulder Crushes Two Homes in Himachal's Mandi District Amid Heavy Rainfall

A dramatic rockfall struck Fagu village near Thalout in the Aut area of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on August 2, reducing two houses to rubble during a bout of intense rainfall.
The terrifying 15-second video shows a massive boulder crashing down a hillside, smashing into the structures below. Fortunately, the residents had exited the homes just moments before the incident, narrowly escaping injury.
Locals say the landslide occurred in the afternoon while most villagers were occupied with daily chores. The sudden collapse triggered panic throughout the area. Eyewitnesses reported that the boulder was enormous and came to a stop just before reaching the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway, averting further disaster.
Emergency response teams arrived promptly after being alerted by villagers. The affected families have been relocated to safer areas and are receiving necessary assistance. Officials assured that all possible support will be extended to those impacted.
Authorities have warned of continued rockfall risk in the region and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of danger immediately.
