Phoenix, United States - July 19, 2025 07/18/2025 11:30 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – An adult female is in custody after rear-ending a Department of Public Safety (DPS) patrol vehicle. According to information gathered at the scene, Arizona DPS troopers were investigating a collision on eastbound I-10 near 35th Avenue. The collision investigation resulted in the closure of multiple travel lanes on the left side of the eastbound mainline. At approximately 11:30 p.m., an adult female in a silver Dodge Charger struck the rear of a stationary DPS patrol vehicle that was assisting with traffic control. Both the trooper and the driver of the Charger refused medical assistance. Troopers detained the driver due to obvious signs of impairment. Multiple field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene. The female driver was observed stumbling and struggling to maintain her balance during the tests. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of impairment. The extent of impairment will not be confirmed until further tests have been completed.
