Phoenix, United States - August 26, 2025 08/26/2025 12:15 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the intersection of 16th Street and Deer Valley Road for reports of a single vehicle collision with entrapment at approximately 12:15 a.m. Crews arrived to find a Toyota Highlander with severe collision damage. The driver and sole occupant was found trapped in the driver's seat. Firefighters utilized extrication equipment to cut the unidentified driver out of the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local trauma center in unknown condition. Information gathered at the scene suggests the driver was traveling west on Deer Valley when they struck a traffic signal pole. Passenger side body panels and doors were sheared off the vehicle as a result of the violent impact. A closure was established for the intersection, leaving only one eastbound lane on Deer Valley Road open for traffic. The Phoenix PD is investigating the collision. Officers will determine whether Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are needed once the hospital provides an update.
