A MAJOR new £32m tourist attraction for Portland Dorset UK will create more than 100 jobs - and it could be open with three years.

The Called the Portland MEMO - also known as Eden Portland and are hoping for Government support.

This new tourist attraction will be celebrating biodiversity within a disused stone mine has been revived after many years.

It is reported that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the project 'highly exciting'.

The attraction, project director Sebastian Brooke estimates that MEMO Portland project would create more than 100 jobs and potentially and an additional 450 indirect jobs.

The cost of the project has been estimated at around £32 million with an opening date hoped for 2028.

This attraction intends to use the space created within Portland's Bower's quarry/mine to create a space that would celebrate biodiversity; a 'theatre of science'.

Some 10 acres of land are set aside for biodiversity restoration and it would bring in around 340,000 visitors annually.

The mine itself will be transformed into an 'immersive multimedia space.
