On July 14 in Luoyang, Henan Province, a supermarket shelf suddenly collapsed, hitting a young boy and a woman.

The boy was largely unharmed as he wasn’t directly struck, but the woman, who was hit head-on, suffered multiple injuries, including three loosened front teeth and bruises to her fingers and knees.

Ms. Guo, the woman involved, stated that the shelf was only secured with four small screws, which were not sturdy enough, leading to the accident.

She was hospitalised for four to five days and said she still feels physically unwell with any movement after being discharged. The supermarket has agreed to a one-time compensation of 10,000 yuan to cover medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional damages.
