On July 27 in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, Ms. Zhai was charging an electric scooter battery indoors when she noticed a strange buzzing sound, suggesting a possible short circuit.

Acting quickly, she dragged the battery outside. Just minutes later, the battery suddenly erupted into flames, shooting out fire with such intensity it resembled a multi-barrel rocket launcher.

Fortunately, the battery was removed in time, preventing the fire from spreading indoors and avoiding any injuries.

Ms. Zhai said she heard an electrical buzzing noise and immediately pulled the battery outside. A few minutes later, it started making firecracker-like sounds, “It was terrifying,” she said. She has since contacted the battery manufacturer, seeking a reasonable explanation.
