Killer whale appears to sing as visitor plays instrument
This is the amusing moment a killer whale appeared to sing as a visitor played an instrument.
The musician, dressed in traditional Chinese attire, strummed his pipa in front of the visibly intrigued orca at an aquarium park in Shanxi, China.
Footage shows the musician performing while the marine mammal watched closely on July 30.
Moments later, the orca let out a high-pitched squeal that echoed throughout the room — as if trying to sing along.
Experts said that orcas are highly intelligent and social animals that respond to sounds and music.
The vocalisation may have been a form of curiosity, excitement, or an attempt to interact with the unfamiliar but stimulating sound.
