Phoenix, United States - August 01, 2025 07/31/2025 09:35 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian in the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 at Indian School Road. Troopers arrived to find an unresponsive female pedestrian who had been struck by a white SUV while attempting to cross active lanes of travel on foot. First arriving troopers were seen administering CPR before the arrival of fire crews. Phoenix Fire personnel arrived a short time later and transported the woman to a local trauma center in critical condition, with CPR still in progress. The driver of the white SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with troopers during the course of their investigation. Troopers, alongside ADOT Incident Response Units, established a hard closure for the southbound lanes of Interstate 17, diverting all southbound traffic off the mainline at Indian School Road. The closure remained in place for several hours while the collision investigation unfolded.
