"A frightening moment unfolded during a safari ride at Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta Biological Park when a leopard swiped at a 13-year-old boy through the window of a safari jeep.

The boy, identified as Suhas from Bommasandra, was visiting the park with his parents when the incident occurred. According to officials, the leopard had been trailing the vehicle before suddenly leaping up and clawing at the child’s hand, leaving deep gashes despite the jeep being fitted with protective grills.

Video, provided by the Forest Department, captures the animal chasing the safari jeep and striking through the window. Park staff rushed to Suhas’ aid, and he was quickly taken to a private hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Authorities say they are reviewing the circumstances of the incident to strengthen safety protocols.

The Bannerghatta safari is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, but the episode highlights growing concerns around human-wildlife interactions in and around the park. In recent years, residents on Bengaluru’s outskirts have reported more frequent encounters with leopards and elephants, raising alarm over shrinking habitats and urban projects encroaching on animal corridors."
