This is the terrifying moment two wild elephants charged a safari vehicle full of tourists in northern Sri Lanka.

The incident took place at the Minneriya National Park in North Central Province on June 4th.

According to reports, a group of safari-goers was travelling through the park when they noticed a herd of wild elephants in the distance.

It was almost dark with not many vehicles around, they said.

Suddenly, two of the elephants charged at the jeep and gave chase.

Fortunately, the driver of the jeep managed to speed away before the jumbos could do any damage.

The video shows the duo charging at the jeep while a commuter records the whole incident.

However, the jeep managed to evade the situation by driving away from the place.

The National Park is renowned for its dense population of elephants and there are plenty of chances to spot the wild creatures amidst this park's forest and wetland landscape.
