Bangkok shopping mall fire forces evacuation amid thick smoke
A fire broke out at a shopping mall in Bangkok today as visitors ran to safety, while thick smoke quickly filled the building.
Authorities were alerted to the incident at around 2:19 pm on Saturday in the Pratunam area along Petchburi Road, Ratchathewi District.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and confirmed that the fire had started on the third floor of the complex.
Footage from inside the mall shows the interior blanketed in dense smoke, as crowds of distressed shoppers and customers fled and gathered outside.
Initial reports indicate that investigators discovered a pile of clothes inside one of the department stores as where the inferno started.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
