An Emirates air hostess had an emotional reunion with her family after a year of being away.

Sharon Idone, 23, surprised her loved ones by returning unannounced at her home in Iloilo, the Philippines, on August 12.

Footage shows Sharon, still in her airline uniform with the signature red hat, walking to their front yard where she was greeted by her mother Jennilyn, 49, who was overjoyed.

The two immediately embraced, with Jennilyn breaking down in tears upon seeing her daughter in her work attire.

Sharon then twirled in front of her, proudly showing how she looks while serving as a flight attendant for the prestigious Middle Eastern airline.

She said: ‘My mum never saw me in my uniform, so what could be more special than to show up in the clothes and makeup. I wanted to give her a full experience.'

Sharon comforted her crying parent, who gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek.

She added: 'I had a great time, but what also breaks my heart is that I don't know when I will go home again.'

For many Filipinos, becoming a flight attendant is considered a dream job because of the prestige, travel opportunities, and financial rewards it offers.

However, rigorous standards such as height, natural skin with no piercings or tattoos and excellent English make it difficult for many.
