Looters stole a collectable Iron Man statue while ransacking the home of an Indonesian politician, as nationwide protests over alleged corruption continued to escalate.

Angry residents attacked the residence of NasDem Party Treasurer Ahmad Sahroni in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Saturday, August 30, amid growing public outrage over political perks and rising salaries for lawmakers.

The peaceful demonstration, with minimal police presence, turned violent in the afternoon after protesters broke down the property's fence.

Footage from the scene shows furious demonstrators striking a badly damaged Lexus vehicle parked outside, with several activists seen forcing their way into the house.

Among the items looted were a high-value superhero statue, branded handbags, watches, and household appliances.

Local media reported that two of Sahroni's properties were targeted during the unrest. Another home, located in Bandung, West Java Province, was reportedly set on fire.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement, though several military personnel were later deployed to control the crowd.

Sahroni recently drew public ire after defending the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) amid calls for its dissolution, which followed revelations about lawmakers receiving significant salary increases and allowances.

He openly called those calling for the dissolution of the DPR 'idiots'. Sahroni said: 'That kind of mentality is the mentality of idiots worldwide. Take note, anyone who simply says to disband the DPR is an idiot worldwide.'

As of Sunday, the wave of demonstrations had spread to multiple regions across Indonesia, with at least six reported deaths linked to the unrest.
