US, Phoenix: Tempe Rural Road Motorcycle vs Waymo Crash
Phoenix, United States - September 14, 2025 09/14/2025 01:22 am GMT-0700 TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police officers, the Tempe Fire Department, and Arizona State University police responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on Rural Road just north of Lemon Street early Sunday morning. Police arrived and located a motorcycle rider who had collided with the rear corner of a Waymo self-driving car in the northbound lanes. It is unclear if the Waymo vehicle was occupied at the time of the collision. The motorcycle rider was found unresponsive in the roadway. Firefighters arrived on scene and began administering CPR to the rider, who was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Tempe police closed Rural Road between Lemon Street and Terrace Road as they began their investigation into the crash.
