Los Angeles, United States - September 18, 2025 09/18/2025 02:48 am GMT-0700 GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A big rig jackknifed early Thursday morning during the first rain of the season on the northbound 5 Freeway, 3/4 mile south of Western Avenue, blocking lanes and prompting a SigAlert. The incident was reported about 2:48 a.m., when the tractor-trailer came to rest sideways, blocking the right two lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. By 3:05 a.m., all lanes were stopped as crews responded. CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:14 a.m., closing the number 3 and number 4 lanes for at least 90 minutes. The cab of the truck was reported to be partially detached from the frame, requiring heavy-duty towing assistance. Tow truck crews were en route by 3 a.m., with an estimated arrival time of 45 minutes. No injuries were immediately reported.
