This is the dramatic moment an earthquake shook a grocery store before shoppers fled in Venezuela.

Employees and customers at the crowded shop experienced a magnitude 6.2 tremor in Maracaibo, Zulia on September 24, at 6:22 pm local time.

Footage shows products falling from shelves as the building trembled, prompting frantic men, a young girl, and three workers to run for safety.

Women can be heard screaming in fear as they sprint outside the store.

Local media reported that the quake caused property damage to homes, prompting people to gather in open spaces to avoid being struck by falling debris.

Authorities urged citizens to remain calm, inspect their homes for damage, and stay alert for possible aftershocks.

The earthquake was also felt in Colombian cities, including Cucuta, Bucaramanga, and Medellin.

No deaths or injuries have been confirmed so far, though power outages and cracks in buildings have been reported.

The epicentre was located 4 km North East of the Mene Grande region of Venezuela, at a depth of 7.8 km.
