This is the heartwarming moment a protective mother dog dragged her puppy away from a waterlogged street.

The curious brown pup was about to walk along the flooded walkway when its mum suddenly grabbed its tail and pulled it from the puddle in Guangdong, China.

Footage shows the canine gently lifting the adventurous pooch and dropping it onto dry ground on September 8.

She then clasped her jaws around the pup's hind leg and dragged it further away, causing the dramatic little one to cry out.

A black dog, believed to be the father, followed closely alongside the brown canine.

Meanwhile, their owner, who was recording the scene, can be heard laughing in the background, entertained by the mother's actions.
