A bear cub sparked a brief frenzy at a Fry’s grocery store on 1st Street and Oracle Road on the morning of September 29, 2025. The store had just opened around 6:30 a.m. when the young bear made its way inside.

Witnesses said the cub had been scratching at the sliding doors before they opened, giving it access to the store. Shoppers were taken by surprise as the cub dashed toward the produce section, prompting panic among customers.

Charlie Alolkoy, a wildlife photographer who was shopping at the time, captured the chaotic scene on video. He noted the bear’s swift movements and the reaction of those nearby.

Store staff immediately called police, who advised evacuating the store. Customers and employees waited outside while officers arrived on the scene.

Within minutes, the cub exited on its own and was last seen running across the parking lot with police keeping a close watch.

The incident lasted roughly five minutes but left shoppers with a memorable and startling encounter.
