A video recorded by a passing driver shows the severity of an accident on PE-15, in Olinda, in the Recife Metropolitan Area. In the footage, a horse can be seen lying on the asphalt and, a few meters ahead, a motorcycle completely destroyed.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. on a Sunday on the local road in the Jatobá neighborhood. According to the Military Police, the motorcyclist was heading toward Paulista when he collided head-on with the animal, which was loose on the road.

The impact was fatal for both the rider and the horse. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and the Fire Department were called, but the victim was already dead at the scene.

Many motorcyclists passing through the area stopped, visibly moved by the scene. The site was cordoned off until forensic teams arrived, and the case is being investigated by the Civil Police to clarify the circumstances of the crash.

In a statement, the Olinda City Hall, through the Secretariat of Environment and Urban Planning, said it carries out inspections, removals, and sheltering of large animals throughout the city. It also emphasized that abandoning horses on the streets or allowing them to roam freely is a crime.
