Two dead after cargo plane overshoots runway at Hong Kong Airport (2)

HONG KONG - OCT. 20, 2025 - HONG KONG FIRE SERVICES DEPARTMENT: A cargo plane veered off the runway and plunged into the sea while attempting to land at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday, Oct. 20.

According to Hong Kong media reports, the aircraft struck a ground service vehicle during landing, sending the vehicle and its two crew members into the water. Both workers were later confirmed dead.

"Our cargo aircraft departing from Dubai to Hong Kong went off from the runaway upon ending [...] aircraft collided with the petrol car and pushed the car into the sea," said an officer from Hong Kong Fire Services Department.

Authorities said all four flight crew members escaped unharmed.
