This is the shocking moment a toddler tumbled headfirst off a trike trailer - then repeated the same fall minutes later.

An elderly man had placed his one-year-old grandson on the back of the vehicle by the roadside when the young boy leaned against the barrier and fell to the ground in Jiangsu Province, China.

CCTV footage shows the youngster toppling from the blue tricycle, prompting his grandfather to rush over and carry the crying child on October 28.

Upon hearing the boy wailing in pain, his mother ran out to check on him.

Eight minutes later, she placed the child on the vehicle again while preparing food, only for the toddler to tumble off the three-wheeler once more.

Mr Li, the boy's father, said: 'My father couldn't carry my son, so he placed him on the trailer. My wife was terrified when she saw what happened and went to keep an eye on our child. Thankfully, my son wasn't injured in either incident.'
